How to grow/transplant bamboo?
My husband just brought home some bamboo cuttings that he found at the curb of a church by his job. This bamboo is BIG and not the little tabletop variety. How do I plant it? It doesn’t have any “roots” and looks a little dry (the church apparently cut it down this past Friday). The pieces we have are about 3-4 feet long. Thanks! =)
You are likely not going to have sucess growing it from cuttings unless it is a very warm wet climate with clumping bamboo which already has roots coming off the sides.
Your best bet is to go to the church and dig up some rhizomes, the whole dirt ball, and transplant it in to your yard. I grow the running type bamboo and it is not that hard to control it’s spread.
